DANZA VIRAL AND PATRICIA RINCON PRESENTS “THE MYTH PROJECT: THREADS”. SEPTEMBER 10th AT BELLAS ARTES

“Threads” will be performed at Bellas Artes on Saturday September 10th as a result of a cross-border collaboration between Danza Viral and choreographer Patricia Rincon, Head of Dance at the University of San Diego California and Artistic Director of Patricia Rincon Dance Collective.

The piece was premiered in April in San Diego, CA, under the festival "Blurred Borders". On September 10 a documentary video will also be presented. Both are informed by Patricia’s recent research of the Otomí indigenous tribes of Guanajuato, Mexico. The Otomí women are famous for their intricate weavings and dolls and pass this tradition to the women of their tribe from generation to generation. “The Myth Project: “Threads” is funded in-part by a grant from the UCSD Research in the Arts committee.

As a special guest of the evening, Nashieli Buelna (Danza Viral) will present her work in progress “Cuerpo de Escaparate” [Showcase Body], about the issue of using the female body as sales strategy.

Part of the funds raised will be donated to the Center for Adolescents of San Miguel de Allende (CASA).
